Susan Baines
The founder of the business has been a General Nurse and a Midwife for 29 years. She has worked in a wide variety of healthcare environments both in the public and private sectors and initially specialised in Gynaecology and women’s health. Having been a hospital, community and clinical Midwife manager she successfully managed the Government North West’s Bolton City Challenge Maternity and Women’s Health Project which concluded in 1998. Sue is currently employed as a Midwife Lecturer, she also teaches Healthcare Ethics to undergraduate and postgraduate students. As a qualified Family Planning Nurse and Parent Education facilitator, Sue specialises in teaching both topics to qualified Midwives. As a level 3 accredited UK Register of Exercise Professional’s Aquanatal coach, she also offers two Aquanatal sessions in the local community weekly. In 2004 she was awarded University funding to study women’s perceptions of the benefits of attending Aquanatal exercise in pregnancy. She disseminated her findings at three Australian Universities in the same year. She is a reviewer for the British Journal of Midwifery, Professional Midwife and Oxford University Press. Sue and her husband Michael have two wonderful daughters, who they see occasionally! Kirsty lives in Melbourne and Lucy works in London.

Catherine Ashworth
Catherine is a registered general Nurse and also a registered Sick Children’s Nurse and has specialised in Paediatric Nursing at a local NHS Trust since 1975. She has recently secured a senior position with the PCT as Specialist Nurse for Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. Having gained a BA (Hons) degree, Cath has worked tirelessly to develop professional awareness of the need to support effective parenting for the benefit of our future young society. She has recently completed “Dinosaur” child behaviour training and has a specific interest in “Webster-Stratton” techniques. Cath has three grown up sons and has just become a grandma for the first time!

Lesley Price
Lesley has been a practising Midwife for 28 years, having practised in the UK, Australia and Saudi Arabia. Lesley is currently employed as a Community Midwife at a local NHS Trust, where she carries a clinical case load. She has amassed considerable expertise in supporting mothers who choose to birth their babies in the home environment and those who choose to birth their babies in water. Lesley has worked pro-actively to create changes in Midwifery attitudes and professional practice, which has resulted in a 100% increase in the local area of home births (2004-5). She gained a BSc degree in Midwifery Practice in 2005 and became an Aroma therapist. Lesley is a Supervisor of Midwives and named Supervisory Midwife for the North West Supervising Authority in the area. Lesley works tirelessly for the Association of Radical Midwives and has recently presented her clinical achievements to her professional peers nationally. Lesley has a son and a daughter who are just about to go to University.

Ann Walsh
Anne has been a Midwife for approximately 20 years, she has practised as a clinical Midwife within the NHS and is currently a University Midwife Lecturer. After gaining both an Msc and an MA, Ann specialises in teaching psychology to both undergraduate and postgraduate Midwives and Healthcare Practitioners. Ann also teaches research methodology within the Midwifery Directorate at the University and is currently studying for her PhD at the Manchester Metropolitan University. She has recently returned from presenting a research Poster at a health conference in Utrecht, Holland. Ann is also employed as a Tutor for the Open University and specialises in Public Health. She is extremely knowledgeable with regard to Politics and Midwifery care provision. Ann is a reviewer for several professional Midwifery journals. Ann has two adult sons, a daughter and four young grandchildren. She acted as Midwife for all her grandchildren’s births in the home environment.

Pregnancy2Parenting is a business consisting of four partners. Three of the partners are qualified and experienced midwives with expertise in all aspects of childbearing.
